U.S. wins CONCACAF W Championship thanks to Alex Morgan’s two goals

US women's national team defeated Haiti 3-0 in opening game of Concacaf Women's Championship on Monday night. 

Alex Morgan scored a pair of goals in the first half for the US

The tournament determines the region's four qualifying spots for the Women's World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023

Middle Purce also scored for the United States, which has won the past two World Cups

The US opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Morgan finished off a Mallory Pugh pass to beat Haiti goalkeeper Lara Larco with a heel flick

Morgan scored his second goal on a header in the 23rd minute

Haiti was awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute, but Roselord Borgella's shot struck the post and ricocheted away

In the 45th minute, Borgella was given a red card, but video review overturned the decision
