Over the weekend of the WNBA All-Stars, Brittney Griner will be the focus

The WNBA All-Star Game is Sue Bird and Sylvia Fowles' last appearance

The WNBA holds one of its marquee events in Chicago for the first time while Griner is detained

A T-shirt bearing Griner's name and No. 42 was worn by Bird and the other All-Stars at practice on Saturday, and the league plans to keep pushing for Griner's release during Sunday's game

"I think for all of us, we want to keep BG's name at the forefront of everything we do," Bird said

Griner, 31, pleaded guilty Thursday to drug possession charges that could land her in prison for up to 10 years

At the White House on the same day, Bird watched her fiancée Megan Rapinoe receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom

She said Rapinoe "has taken advantage of those moments when she has been able to speak with the President to talk about BG.

I am aware of that." Bird said she did not have "personal time" with Biden
